As was discussed in another thread and somewhat well received was the idea to do a Tbird Photo Scavenger Hunt, where we go out and collect photos of the latest 'Challenge' and share them on the forum. The purpose of the TPSH is really just to get out and ride, share our experience and perhaps encourage us to stop at a few of those place we normally just roll by.

The rules are simple and if you've got a good reason, or it's just funny you are free to ignore them at any time.

1 - Picture must contain YOUR motorcycle, but does not need to be a tbird. (but if not, you do need to include some sort of self-flagellating statement like "sadly I had to ride this silly KTM")
2 - Picture has to be taken after challenge is made. (No dredging up past photos to win)
3 - Entries will be accepted for 2 weeks, at which point a poll will be created and members will vote on which picture best fulfilled the stated challenge. If the challenge is not met, the previous picture winner picks a new challenge. (this is just to keep this thread moving along)
4 - Try not to repeat challenges.
5 - A maximum of 3 pictures per member per challenge. (this number may need to be adjusted in the future)
6 - Try to be creative but realistic in the challenges you pick. ("Your House" is probably not the best challenge, likewise 'The space shuttle' will probably mean we go 2 weeks and have to re-pick. The idea is to keep it moving but interesting)
7 - Most importantly be creative in the way you solve the challenge and have fun.

Examples might be "A River Crossing" or "A Fire" or "A Tourist Trap"... most anything is possible and no worries about camera quality, just do your best.

Oh and finally... points will be awarded for the most creative solutions and points are worth nothing. Have fun!

Excellent idea Thatch. Have to make it a sticky thread so it stays put. I award you 17 points for creating such a useful and interesting thread!

Great Idea...

Quick question(s):
1) How many Photos can a rider put up per challenge?
- I say a maximum of 3...

So here's my first 2 'quickies'...
OK - NOT my 'Bird, but you all know that would be impossible right now!

Taken on the way home, with my mobile telephone that had 12% battery life left, in bad lighting conditions - uploaded to Flickr and effects added by Picnic.

'Tigger & The Tower Of Nuclear Power'

'Tigger Above Bad Zurzach - My Home Town'

So they are by FAR not the best - and hopefully therefore prerogative enough to get some of you up out of the chair you're now sat in, put ya jacket and helmet on and GET OUT...
... 'cos mi best is yet to come!!!

Leave the pork pies for now - get the sausage rolls while they're hot!

Well You asked for it!

The "Land Rover on a Pole" is a monument to the first settlers in the Kieth district of South Australia.
The district was only considered suitable for developement with the recognition of deficiencies of trace elements within the soils.
Fertilizers with additional cobalt and molybdenum have made it possible for the area to support agriculture. There was a post war developement scheme organised by the AMP society.

I thought the site provided an opportunity to put two British motoring icons in the one picture. It was a 240 Km round trip so the scavenger hunt is certainly meeting one of its goals by promoting the riding of my bike.

Very cool Frank. Has a bit of an American roadside attraction feel to the thing. (having been raised on Route 66 that is a very good thing to me.) I'd never heard of the monument before this.

Any chance you have a larger version of the pic?

As you can probably tell from my previous post, photography or computing isn't my forte.

To enable me to upload the picture I had to downsize the image and lost quite a bit of clarity.
My programme offers about four different options for converting image and file size and the only option that is acceptable by the site is significantly deteriorated.

I can see by the fantastic images that Birdy and others post that there must be a better way. (Probably not a free download converter like I use?)

Perhaps someone could offer some hints on "photography for the forum" in its own Topic?

I'd appreciate some help.

Regards Frank

Hey Thatch, can you PM me too if your PM was to advise Frank on a better way of uploading photos. I have used Photo Bucket but I'm not sure that Have it right yet.

Like Frank, any help would be appreciated...

I was offering Frank the option of me doing it for him, but also with the promise that I'd put together a photo thread listing a few tools, places to upload, how to post, etc in the coming days. Since you are wanting the same sort of thing it seems like there is a bit of a need here so I'll see what I can do to assist.

In the meantime I'd gladly help anyone out with their images until (and even after) the instructional post is up.

I really do want to participate in this, but the weather has dictated otherwise. I have some great places lined up - just can't get to them.
Hope others get the bug.

The one with the beautiful Blue and White Thunderbird parked underneath the clapped out Land Rover.

I'm a bit disappointed that there hasn't been any entries after mine.

Perhaps the technical wizardry and artistic integrity has intimidated everyone else?

I hope we get some better entries, I don't know if I have the imagination to come up with the next photo subject, should I win.

Perhaps you should've kept quiet and won it by stealth. Betcha that clever lad, AlainD, from France comes back with some good stuff. I've only just fallen upon this thread.

Personally, I also have a cunning plan; I just need to narrow down my choice of erections.
